Frank discussions give Dragons needed fire

The Dragons have gone from one of the worst-ranked attacking sides in the NRL to the best, and captain Gareth Widdop said frank discussions had helped.

Some frank off-season discussions over the summer have helped turn St George Illawarra from NRL battlers to competition heavyweights, according to captain Gareth Widdop.

The Dragons were the last team in the competition to rack up 100 points last year, but became the first to do so in the first four weeks in Sunday's 26-12 win over the Warriors.

"Things had to change, there's no doubt about that," Widdop said.
