Australian golfer Marcus Fraser has claimed his third European tour title with a two-shot victory in the inaugural Maybank Championship in Kuala Lumpur.

Starting three shots behind overnight leader Soomin Lee, Fraser showed coolness in the clutch as the South Korean self-destructed with two late double bogeys in a dramatic finish at Royal Selangor Golf Club on Sunday.

Fraser carded a closing three-under-par 68 to win at 15 under, while Lee had a 73 to finish tied second with Miguel Tabuena (68).

A double bogey on the 16th by Lee opened the door for Fraser.

A clutch 10-foot putt on the 17th then kept the 37-year-old Victorian in a share of the lead.

And when Lee double-bogeyed again on the last hole, a par was enough to make Fraser the champion by a two-shot margin.

Fraser's previous wins on the European tour come in the 2003 Russian Open and 2010 Ballantines Championship.

Fellow Australian Nathan Holman led the tournament after rounds of 64 65 and finished eighth after a closing 72.
