Fremantle have recalled their AFL big guns to ensure a shock loss to St Kilda isn't repeated against Carlton on Thursday night.

Aaron Sandilands, Hayden Ballantyne, Stephen Hill and Garrick Ibbotson return for the Patersons Stadium match, with Colin Sylvia, Jonathon Griffin, Anthony Morabito and Matt Taberner all dropped.

Morabito's omission stops his AFL comeback after three matches. He had previously missed three-and-a-half seasons after three left knee reconstructions.

Carlton have made three changes for the match, all of them forced.

Troy Menzel did not recover from a knee knock sustained against North Melbourne, while Andrejs Everitt's more-serious knee injury from that game could have ended his season.

Mitch Robinson also misses with suspension, with Blues coach Mick Malthouse calling up Andrew Carrazzo, Brock McLean and Blaine Johnston.
