French hooker Kayser to miss Aussie tour

France have suffered a blow ahead of their three-Test rugby tour of Australia with hooker Benjamin Kayser ruled out with a neck injury.

Hooker Benjamin Kayser will miss France's three-Test tour of Australia in June because of a neck injury, his rugby club Clermont said Wednesday.

The 29-year-old, capped 24 times by France, will undergo surgery on a cervical hernia and is likely to be out for several months, the Top 14 club said.

French coach Philippe Saint-Andre was already without preferred hooker Dimitri Szarzewski (ankle), and he now has Guilhem Guirado and Christopher Tolofua vying for the No.2 shirt.

France play Australia in Brisbane on June 7, in Melbourne a week later and then round off their tour in Sydney on June 21.
