SNAPSHOT FROM DAY TWO OF THE FRENCH OPEN IN PARIS
Player of the day: Ons Jabeur - after only making the main draw as a "lucky loser" from qualifying, the 22-year-old world No.114 became only the second Tunisian woman in history to win a grand slam match with a 6-3 6-4 triumph over Ana Bogdan.
How the Aussies fared: Former runner-up Samantha Stosur lived up to expectations and saved the day with a 7-5 6-1 success against Kristina Kucova, after defeats for Daria Gavrilova, Alja Tomljanovic, teenage qualifier Jaimee Fourlis and John Millman.
How the seeds fared: Wins for nine-time champion Rafael Nadal, titleholder Novak Djokovic and fifth-seed Milos Raonic in the men's event, but No.14 Jack Sock, No.31 Gilles Simon and No.32 Mischa Zverev all bombed out. Gavrilova and Australian Open semi-finalist Coco Vandeweghe were the only women's seeded losers as defending champion Garbine Muguruza and former world No.1 Caroline Wozniacki and Stosur all safely progressed.
Stat of the day: Fourlis clubbed 36 winners to Wozniacki's 12 but paid the price for committing 54 unforced errors in her three-set loss to the two-time grand slam runner-up.
Quote of the day: "I ran out of gas. Literally." - Gavrilova explaining her shattering three-set loss to little-known Belgian Elise Mertens.
Biggest talking point: Boris Becker letting bygones be bygones and shaking hands with Djokovic's new super coach Andre Agassi in the Serbian superstar's courtside box.
