French prisoners upload Harlem Shake video

A group of French prison inmates have uploaded a Harlem Shake video to the internet, flouting a ban on masks and mobile phones.

The Harlem Shake comes in thousands of varieties but now there's a prison version.

A group of inmates in the Montmedy penitentiary in northeast France have recorded and uploaded their own version of the meme to the internet.

About a dozen hooded inmates appear in the video, dancing and gyrating in the style familiar from all Harlem Shake memes.

France's prison authorities are not so happy with the video, however.

Mobile phones and wearing masks are not allowed inside prisons.
