French rider Remy Di Gregorio suspended

French cyclist Remy Di Gregorio has been stood down after testing positive for a form of banned blood-boosting hormone EPO

French cyclist Remy di Gregorio has been provisionally suspended by the sport's international federation UCI after an adverse doping test.

The 32-year-old rider was tested positive for darbepoetin - a form of the banned blood-booster EPO - on March 8, the day of stage five of the Paris to Nice race, UCI said on Wednesday.

Di Gregorio had finished third on stage three two days earlier.

A UCI statement said Di Gregorio was tested in an "intelligence-led doping control".

He has the right to request analysis of the B sample.
