Fremantle utility Paul Duffield feels there is major room for improvement at the Dockers.
Ross Lyon's men made it four wins on the trot with Saturday's 20-point win over Richmond at the MCG.
There is no reason to expect that streak will stop in the next six weeks, when they face opposition in the bottom half of the AFL ladder.
Duffield suggested the Dockers had been far too hot and cold as they seek to improve on last year's grand-final loss to Hawthorn.
"We've been inconsistent at times. We've played some bad footy, but also some really good footy," Duffield said.
"It's about building, and we have to keep improving.
"The Tigers were very good at keeping the ball off us, so we've got to improve on stopping that kind of uncontested play."
Richmond were able to dominate patches of the contest, which Lyon admitted was a "massive concern".
"We don't like it at all, but it's a long campaign and you're not going to be perfect," Lyon said.
"You've got to find a way to get the momentum back and I thought we adjusted really well at halftime."
