Friend undergoes surgery

Sydney Roosters hooker Jake Friend has undergone surgery after sustaining fluid on the lungs against Melbourne on Saturday, the club have confirmed.

Friend underwent a surgical procedure for haemothorax on Sunday afternoon to locate and identify a source of bleeding, and this was successful.

The Queenslander remains in hospital and has shown marked improvement in the past 24 hours and it's anticipated he'll be discharged within the next two days.
