If not for Wade Graham's State of Origin suspension, Tyson Frizell knows he would not be on the verge of his Kangaroos debut.

The St George Illawarra back-rower was only selected for the Blues side for Origin II after Cronulla star Graham was banned for a high tackle on Johnathan Thurston.

But a standout effort on his Origin debut and in game three ensured that Frizell was in the frame for Four Nations selection.

The 25-year-old, who has represented Wales at international level, is now in line for his Kangaroos debut, off the bench in Saturday's Test against New Zealand in Perth.

"I am very excited to be part of this squad," Frizell said.

"I am happy playing anywhere, on the bench or if Mal (Meninga) wants to start me I have played plenty of games doing both. I am easy wherever I am needed

"You get massive confidence out of playing in such a big arena as Origin.

"Not many players get to that and fortunately for me I was lucky enough to get that experience.

"I took a lot out of it, it definitely calms some of the nerves for other big games."

Frizell represented Wales five times between 2011 and 2013. He said at the start of the year he never expected to earn selection in Australia's Four Nations squad.

"It is something that I never thought I would be able to do," Frizell said.

"It was definitely not on my radar at the start of the year or even at the middle of the year.

"But it is something I have wanted to be a part of and I am loving being here."
