Vuelta a Espana leader Chris Froome has not ruled out competing in the time trial events at next month's world championships in Bergen.
Team Sky rider Froome told a press conference on rest day in Spain that he was considering racing in both the team and individual time trials, but not the road race.
"If I come out of the Vuelta in good shape, and I'm hoping I'm not going to be on fumes in the last week, then I'd look forward to being part of the TTT over in Norway and potentially also the (individual) time trial," he was quoted as saying on cyclingnews.com.
"I don't think the road race suits me at all, the conditions and the course, and I'd rather give that opportunity to somebody else to go for it there.
"But potentially the time trial and certainly the TTT, I think I could bring something to the line-up there."
Froome, who secured his fourth Tour de France title in July, last rode in the world championships in 2013, when Great Britain claimed bronze in the team time trial in Florence.
He has twice won Olympic bronze in the individual time trial, in 2012 and 2016, while the last time he entered the individual time trial at the world championships was in 2009 when he finished 17th.
The Briton has held the leader's red jersey at La Vuelta for six days and currently holds a 36-second advantage over closest rival Esteban Chaves.
"I'm pretty happy with the start of this year's Vuelta," he said. "Up until now we've only had three four-kilometre climbs coming into the finish. Already to be in this position after those climbs is a dream scenario."
La Vuelta resumes on Tuesday with stage 10 seeing the riders tackle the 164.8km route from Caravaca to El Pozo.
