Animated movie Frozen has become South Korea's second biggest foreign film ever.

The movie, featuring the voices of Kristen Bell and Josh Gad, has earned almost $US70 million ($A77.83 million) at the local box office, passing Iron Man 3 as the nation's number two imported film.

Only Avatar, starring Australian Sam Worthington, has had more success at the cinema in South Korea.

Frozen is on course to become one of only nine movies - the first animated - to have been seen on the big screen in South Korea by 10 million people.

Frozen, in Australian cinemas currently, has so far taken $A399,024 at the local box office.
