Fruean fracture rocks Crusaders

Winger Robbie Fruean has fractured his right arm during the Crusaders 40-16 Super Rugby loss to the Chiefs in Hamilton.

The Crusaders' stuttering start to the Super Rugby season received another blow after confirmation that wing Robbie Fruean fractured his arm during Saturday's loss to the Chiefs.

An x-ray has confirmed Fruean fractured his right arm during last night's 40-16 defeat in Hamilton, and he is scheduled to see a specialist on Monday.

The Chiefs scored five tries to one, the bonus-point win lifting them to the top of the Super Rugby standings alongside the Hurricanes.

The Crusaders have one win, a 26-20 victory over the Highlanders last week, after they opened their account with a shock 20-10 loss to the Rebels.

They have a bye next week, before lining up against the Lions in Christchurch on March 14.
