The honeymoon's over for a groom who abandoned his new bride and a $10,000 surety to skip bail.

Murat Shomshe, 33, is being taken to court in Melbourne after being arrested in Campbellfield on Tuesday morning.

A County Court judge had granted him weekend release for his July 26 marriage, after Shomshe complained he wouldn't get back the $6000 deposit for his wedding if he didn't turn up.

Judge Richard Maidment had expressed reservations before releasing Shomshe on strict bail conditions and a $10,000 surety to marry in front of 473 guests.

Shomshe had agreed to return to the County Court on July 27 prior to returning to custody.

Instead he fled, reportedly while his bride was taking a shower.

His wife was not only missing a husband, but reportedly the $10,000 she put up for him.

His new mother-in-law, Vaibe Dulevski, told the Herald Sun her daughter, Belinda, didn't know Shomshe was planning to run.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said Shomshe has been taken to the County Court, where he is expected to appear at 2.15pm on Tuesday.
