Fujita wins by two shots in Japan

Japanese veteran Hiroyuki Fujita has won the Asia-Pacific Diamond Cup to claim victory by two strokes.

Japanese veteran Hiroyuki Fujita won the Asia-Pacific Diamond Cup on Sunday, firing a five-under-par 66 in the final round to claim victory by two strokes.

Fujita sank six birdies and one bogey on the 7,117-yard Ohtone Country Club course in Ibaraki, northeast of Tokyo, for a tournament total of six-under-par.

The 45-year-old, who was 14th going into the last round, beat home Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat (67), American Jason Knutzon (68) and Korean SK Ho (69).

Australians Cameron Smith (70) and Adam Bland (71), who had both led at various times during the tournament, were tied for equal ninth - four shots behind Fujita.

"All day today, I was able to submit satisfying golf. I am extremely happy with the result," he said.

"The fact that I was able to play among Asia's leading players and win the tournament gives me a lot of confidence."

Asian Tour order of merit leader David Lipsky of the United States finished tied for 56th.
