Funeral held for NSW police chase victim

Family and friends have held a funeral for 17-month-old Tateolena Tauaifaga after she was killed following a police chase in Sydney's west.

A funeral has been held for toddler Tateolena Tauaifaga, who died after a police chase in Sydney's west.

Family and friends of the Tauaifaga family gathered on Saturday to farewell the 17-month-old, just more than a week after her death.

The girl had been playing in her backyard in a cul-de-sac on January 8 when she was killed by a car ploughing through the fence following a high-speed police chase.

"She was full of life. She was so happy, she would run around playing 'castles' with her siblings all afternoon," uncle Tulaga Toleafoa told reporters shortly after the fatal chase.

The male driver and female passenger of the Audi police were allegedly chasing have been arrested and charged.

Christopher Chandler, 22, was found and charged after six days on the run since he allegedly crashed a stolen Audi through the fence of Tateolena's Constitution Hill home.

The charges laid against him include manslaughter, aggravated dangerous driving causing death, police pursuit (Skye's Law), and use offensive weapon to avoid apprehension.

His passenger, Katie Tuite, also 22, has been arrested and charged with offences including theft, affray, being armed with intent, drug supply and possession.

She remains behind bars but has not been charged over the pursuit.
