US veteran Jim Furyk fired a bogey-free seven-under-par 63 on Friday to seize a share of the Canadian Open second-round lead alongside compatriot Tim Petrovic with local hope Graham DeLaet lurking.
The American pair lead by two shots on 10-under, while DeLaet, like Furyk, matched the Royal Montreal Golf Club's Blue Course record with a 63 to sit at eight-under.
The round put DeLaet in a strong position going into the weekend, boosting his chances of ending the 60-year victory drought for Canadian golfers in their home open.
But there are plenty of players in striking distance.
DeLaet shared third place with American Kyle Stanley, who posted a 67.
Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell carded a five-under round to be seven-under, in a group including American Justin Hicks, Scott Brown and Andrew Svoboda (66).
Greg Chalmers, shot a two-under round to be the best-placed Australian at six-under for the tournament and four shots off the lead, while compatriot Robert Allenby is a stroke further back at five-under.
