Future Fund nudging $130 billion

The Future Fund stood at $129.6 billion as of March 31 after making an annual investment return of 7.7 per cent since its inception in 2006.

The Future Fund has grown to just shy of $130 billion, making investment returns of nearly $70 billion since it was set up by former Liberal treasurer Peter Costello in 2006.

The fund stood at $129.6 billion as of March 31, having returned 7.7 per cent per annum since 2006 and exceeding the benchmark return target of 6.9 per cent.

The fund was set up to cover unfunded public servant superannuation liabilities.
