G20 agree structural reform needed: Hockey

Treasurer Joe Hockey says his G20 counterparts agree that low interest rates and big government spending is not sustainable.

The common theme of last weekend's G20 meeting was that low interest rates and big government spending are not sustainable drivers of long-term economic growth, Treasurer Joe Hockey says.

Reporting back to parliament on Wednesday after attending the finance ministers meeting in Turkey last weekend, Mr Hockey said there needed to be ongoing structural reform to deliver quality growth.

"G20 members are putting in place reforms that lift investment in infrastructure, improve competition and regulation, boost employment and facilitate greater global trade," Mr Hockey said.
