Gabriel's ankle issue, Test bowling doubts

West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel is suffering pain in his left ankle and won't bowl again on day one of the first Test against Australia.

West Indies bolter Shannon Gabriel won't bowl again on day one of the Test against Australia, with team management saying the paceman has an ankle complaint.

"He's suffering a little bit of pain in his left ankle," a team spokesman told reporters, adding that the 27-year-old would have scans after stumps.

Gabriel reached speeds in excess of 157km/h on Thursday and finished the day with 1-59 off 10 overs, taking the wicket of Aussie opener Joe Burns.
