Gaga accused of glamorising bulimia

Lady Gaga has been accused of glamorising eating disorders after a vomit-inspired art performance during one of her shows.

Lady Gaga's vomit-art performance during a recent show has resulted in accusations she is encouraging eating disorders like bulimia.

Artist Millie Brown, who creates artworks by vomiting coloured milk, threw up on the singer during her performance at the South by Southwest festival in Texas last week.

Since then over 9,000 people have signed an petition condemning the stunt.

The petition says Lady Gaga's actions could serve as a trigger for people struggling with eating disorders like bulimia.

"Lady Gaga once struggled with bulimia, but now she is glamorising the eating disorder," the petition says.

"In a March 13 performance ... artist Millie Brown intentionally vomited green liquid on Lady Gaga's cleavage, then crawled on top of her and vomited again, this time black goo.

"The pop star then continued her performance covered in the disgusting liquid."

The petition says the star should be more sensitive, having herself suffering from bulimia in the past.

Rosyln Budoff, who signed the petition, wrote a personal note to Lady Gaga saying she should be ashamed.

"Eating disorders do not need to be glamorised," she wrote.

"What kind of message are you sending to young girls? Shame on you for this."

Kimberly Johnson added, "Bulimia is NOT funny or something to make lite (sic) of... I am a recovering Bulimic and I almost died in 2009. Eating disorders like this should NOT be glamorised!"
