Gallagher, Chalmers on Labor frontbench

Jim Chalmers and Katy Gallagher will replace Jan McLucas and Bernie Ripoll on federal Labor's frontbench, but their portfolios are yet to be announced.

Labor senator Katy Gallagher and member for Rankin Jim Chalmers will replace two departing opposition figures in the federal shadow ministry.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten on Friday welcomed the pair to Labor's frontbench team to replace Bernie Ripoll and senator Jan McLucas who have retired.

Mr Shorten will announce their portfolios in a reshuffle expected after Labor's next caucus meeting on October 13.
