Gardening tip of the week

Order seed-garlic bulbs for planting as cloves later this month. Prepare garden beds in advance. Apart from a sunny location, garlic needs rich but free-draining soil that is neutral to slightly acidic. As the garlic grows between November and July, keep beds free of weeds with the help of a mulch of straw or chopped leaves.
