English singer and composer Gary Numan, dubbed the `Godfather of Electronic Music' has announced a national tour of Australia.

Numan, one of the showcase acts at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas next month, will start his southern hemisphere tour in Auckland on May 23.

He will visit Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia.

Numan, best known for his charting topping hits Are Friends Electric? and Cars, will tour to showcase his new album Splinter - his 20th studio album.

May 25 - Astor Theatre, Perth

May 28 - Tivoli, Brisbane

May 29 - HQ, Adelaide

May 30 - The Hi-Fi, Melbourne

May 31 - Metro Theatre, Sydney
