Gas leak forces ACT hospital evacuation

Two buildings at a Canberra hospital have been evacuated while firefighters investigate a gas leak.

Three hundred people have evacuated from the Canberra Hospital while firefighters investigate a gas leak.

Staff from the ANU School of Medicine in Garran were forced to leave two buildings on Thursday while firies tried to isolate the gas leak.

No one has been injured.

Firefighters are monitoring the air to ensure it's safe for staff to return, the ACT Emergency Safety Agency said in a statement.

After half an hour firefighters gave the all-clear for people to return to the buildings.

Workmen in the area ruptured the gas line, the ESA said.
