Gavrilova into Hong Kong tennis quarters

Australia's Daria Gavrilova faces a likely quarter-final against Caroline Wozniacki after a 6-1 2-6 6-2 win over American Shelby Rogers at the Hong Kong Open.

Australia's Daria Gavrilova is the first player through to the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Open.

Gavrilova, seeded seventh, has advanced with a 6-1 2-6 6-2 win over American Shelby Rogers.

She faces a likely last-eight showdown with Danish former world No.1 and No.3 seed Caroline Wozniacki.

Also on Wednesday, Japan's Naomi Osaka upset second-seeded American veteran Venus Williams, 7-5 6-2.

Russian sixth seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova joined Gavrilova the quarter-finals, beating Jacqueline Cako of the US, 7-6 (7-3) 6-1.
