Australian star Daria Gavrilova's post-Australian Open slide has continued with a quarter-final loss at the San Antonio Open in Texas.
Gavrilova was top seed at the low-key event but fell 6-4 6-4 to American Alison Riske.
She has won just three matches in four tournaments since thrilling crowds in her adopted home country en route to the round of 16 at the Australian Open in January.
Gavrilova had beaten Riske in their only prior meeting - closer to home in Brisbane.
After a fast start by Gavrilova, Riske, a wildcard entrant into Indian Wells last week, pulled back and ran away with the win.
"I got off to a slow start but it was only because she was putting a lot of pressure on me," Riske said.
"I felt like that could only hold up for so long. I felt like I got into a groove a bit, and it worked in my favour.
"But she's an amazing competitor; she is where she is for a reason."
