Daria Gavrilova and Samantha Stosur have both been beaten in their opening matches at the Miami Open.
The Australian women both suffered round two defeats at the event, their first matches, after they received first round byes..
Stosur fell in a typically rollercoaster loss, going down 3-6 6-1 6-4 to German Julia Goerges.
World No.66 Goerges, who reached No.12 in the world back in 2012 staved off aggressive attacks from Stosur in a second set where she saved all six break points on her serve and broke Stosur twice.
In the final set Goerges took the break early and never faced a break point, holding on for the win.

Also exiting from the tournament early was No.31 seed Gavrilova, who was beaten 7-5 6-3 by Kazakh Zarina Diyas in just under two hours.
The Australian continuing her poor run of form post Australian Open, where she made a memorable run to the round of 16.
Since then Gavrilova has only won one match at a top tier tournament, enduring losses first-up in Dubai, Indian Wells and now Miami.
Diyas will now face world No.1 Serena Williams in the third round after Williams took a little longer than expected to dispose of compatriot Christina McHale 6-3 5-7 6-2,
"She's clearly capable of playing great tennis. She showed it today," a relieved Williams, speaking of Mchale, told Tennis Channel in an on-court interview.
In other women's second-round matches, third seed Agnieszka Radwanska, of Poland, advanced with a 6-0 6-1 cakewalk over Frenchwoman Alize Cornet.
"I'm just very happy with that win, maybe the score was not showing everything that was happening on the court," Radwanska said.
"But I think it was a great start and a couple of tight games at the beginning of both sets was the key."
Stosur and Gavrilova weren't the only women's seeds to exit the tournament though with 11th seed Lucie Safarova falling victim to Belgian Yanina Wickmayer 6-2 6-3.
Sloane Stephens was also sent packing in quick fashion by in-form Brit Heather Watson, who defeated her 6-3 6-0.
Germany's Andrea Petkovic the other seed to tumble, beaten 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 7-6 (7-2) by Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia.
Svetlana Kuznetsova, Elina Svitolina, Caroline Wozniacki, Petra Kvitova, Simona Halep and Ana Ivanovic all advanced to the third round.
