St Kilda defender Jarryn Geary has signed a two-year contract extension with the AFL club.

Geary was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, but instead inked a new deal with the Saints.

"Jarryn is developing into a genuine leader at the Saints," St Kilda head of football Chris Pelchen said in a statement.

"He has become an important role model within our player group."

The 26-year-old has played 100 games for the Saints since being picked up in the 2007 rookie draft.
