Two girls are dead and a six-month-old baby is in hospital after a house fire in Victoria police say appears to be an accident.
The fire started about 8am on Thursday in the Loch Street property in Geelong East.
Geelong CIU Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Guthrie told 3AW it was early in the investigation but it appears to have been sparked by a small electric bar heater.
The girls, two and three, were taken to hospital by the parents, where they were pronounced dead.
The fire was under control by 8.12am.

"It's very early in the investigation," Geelong CIU Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Guthrie said.
"It's indicating that it's just a tragic accident.
"There was a small heater that's fallen in the room where these two children in the room."
The six-month-old baby girl was in another room in the house, where the parents also were.
"They're all okay," Det Sen Serg Guthrie said.
The baby was taken to hospital by ambulance in a non-life threatening condition

Arson detectives are trying to determine the cause of the blaze, although it's not believed to be suspicious.
Loch Street is closed between St Albans Road and Kilgour Street.
The police investigation is ongoing and arson chemists are assessing the scene.
