Ex-Germany international Stefan Kuntz has been criticised for making a sexist gaffe live on television after his second-division club Kaiserslautern drew all-conquering Bayern Munich in the German Cup.
"Typical: football and women. Mrs Neid (national women's head coach Silvia Neid) also gave us Leverkusen (in the last round)," fumed the 51-year-old live on German channel ARD.
"We're looking forward to it, many thanks," he added sarcastically.
"With Hansi and Mehmet there, I thought nothing could go wrong."
German football fans took to Twitter to voice their disapproval at Kuntz's remark, with Sport1 presenter Laura Wontorra asking: "Should I take that personally?"
Triple-Paralympic swimming champion Kirsten Bruhn had helped make the draw alongside Germany's assistant coach Hansi Flick, watched by pundit and ex-international Mehmet Scholl on Wednesday in the ARD studio.
Kuntz, who helped Germany win the Euro 96 title, was interviewed immediately after Kaiserlautern drew Bayern away at Munich's Allianz Arena on April 15 or 16, while Borussia Dortmund host VfL Wolfsburg in the other semi-final.
Bayern have won all of their last 25 home games against German teams and the Kaiserslautern chairman was clearly disgruntled.
Moderator Reinhold Beckmann tried to sooth Kuntz by praising his team for their 1-0 extra-time victory at Champions League side Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday, but Kuntz was not to be appeased.
The German Cup final will be held at Berlin's Olympic Stadium on May 17.
