German woman traps herself in clothing bin

A woman has been rescued from a clothing bin in Germany after falling in trying to retrieve her forgotten ATM card.

A German woman had to be rescued from a charity clothing bin after falling in while trying to retrieve her ATM card.

The 23-year-old woman had deposited some clothes into the container before realising that she had left her card in the pocket of one of the garments.

She then tried to climb halfway in, the western German city of Moenchengladbach's fire department said on Saturday.

Despite the help of a passer by, she fell inside the container completely and was unable to climb back out, as the bin's flap was designed to only work in one direction.

The local fire department used heavy machinery to open the container and the woman emerged, uninjured and holding her bank card.
