Germans build their own World Cup base

A German industrialist family is building a World Cup base, comprising 14 two-storey houses, for the national football team in Brazil.

Germany is building its own World Cup base near Porto Seguro in the state of Bahia.

The German Football Federation says the coastal base will be at "Campo Bahia," 30km north of Porto Seguro.

The DFB says the base is "still under construction" and will consist of 14 two-story houses for the players and team officials. A media centre and a practice field will be nearby.

The project is financially supported by an unidentified German industrialist family.

The base location allows relatively short flights to Salvador, Fortaleza and Recife.
