South Sydney superstar Greg Inglis has been cleared to back up from State of Origin I and run out for the Rabbitohs against the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire said Inglis looked sharp at training on Friday and was a certainty to take on the Titans in their NRL round-12 clash on the Gold Coast.

Maguire resisted the temptation to rest Inglis, who battled tonsillitis in the lead-up to Wednesday night's State of Origin opener.

"He trained really well this morning so it's a good sign," Maguire said.

"He had a lot of energy about what he did so we're looking forward to having him back at fullback."

Inglis was well contained in Queensland's 11-10 win over NSW at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday leading some to question whether he had fully recovered from his illness or was struggling with an ongoing knee injury.

He ran for 121 metres but failed to make a line break or have much of an impact on Queensland's usually lethal left edge with Darius Boyd.

While Inglis has not had his usual impact in attack this season, Maguire played down suggestion he was struggling with a knee problem.

"You're hard markers, everyone expects him to run 100 metres and score a try," Maguire said.

"But Greg does a lot for whatever team he's playing in. And for us, the amount of work he does at fullback is quite incredible.

"A lot of people don't understand how much is going on when you're standing behind the line and adjusting the defence and doing a lot of talk.

"He brings a lot and on Wednesday night he did his job and played his part for the team and they got the win."
