Giant Samoa winger joins Stormers

South Africa's Stormers have hired Samoa winger Sailosi Tagicakibau for the rest of the Super Rugby season, on loan from London Irish.

Samoa winger Sailosi Tagicakibau has joined Western Stormers on loan from London Irish for the 2014 Super Rugby season.

The 1.94-metre, 100-kilogram islander arrived in Cape Town on Thursday and will watch his new team-mates against New Zealand's Hurricanes this weekend.

He then joins the 2010 runners-up for a demanding Australasian tour that includes fixtures against Canterbury Crusaders, Waikato Chiefs, ACT Brumbies and Queensland Reds.

"We have been looking for an experienced, strongly-built international wing for some time and Sailosi fits the bill perfectly," said Stormers coach Allister Coetzee.

Star Stormers and Springboks left winger Bryan Habana moved to French Top 14 club Toulon after the last season.

Stormers made a disastrous start to the Super season last weekend, crumbling 34-10 away to perennial strugglers Golden Lions in Johannesburg.

Tagicakibau, 31, represented Samoa at the 2003, 2007 and 2011 World Cup tournaments.
