Greater Western Sydney has scored the biggest win in its history, producing a result worthy of its nickname with a 10-point upset win over AFL premiers Hawthorn.
The Giants kicked five straight goals in the final quarter to turn an 18-point deficit into an decisive 18-point lead.
They possessed the perfect executioner in forward spearhead Jeremy Cameron, who kicked 7.0, his biggest haul since round 18 of 2013.
The 18.12 (108) to 14.14 (98) win enabled GWS to move to 4-2 for the season, ahead of Hawthorn's 3-3.
It was a completely different performance to last week from the Giants, who barely managed a yelp in their 87-point loss to the Eagles in Perth.
"Last week we worked hard for 45 minutes out of 120 and if you do that you're going to get smashed," GWS coach Leon Cameron said.
"Tonight the commitment from the 22 that ran out there was to smother and tackle and chase and harass."
Hawks coach Alastair Clarkson said the suspensions of Brad Hodge and Jordan Lewis were no excuse as they had performed well on plenty of occasions in recent seasons without key personnel.
We've had plenty of times over the course of the last two or three years where we've missed key personnel and we've been able to cope really well, so that's no excuse," Clarkson said.
"We were beaten by a hungrier side tonight. GWS played some really good footy.
We had our chances to win the game. Three times we were 20 points or more in front and surrendered that lead."
Cameron praised his back six for quelling the potent Hawks forwards, while the energy of a busy midfield led by Callan Ward (32 possessions) and ruckman Shane Mumford was also important.
Sam Mitchell tallied 33 touches for the Hawks and was one of four players on the losing team to kick two goals.
The crowd of 13,556 was the Giants biggest outside a Sydney derby and their second largest at the venue.
Ward and Hawthorn's Will Langford were reported for wrestling each other.
