The Giants' first home AFL final will start at 5.15pm (AEST) to maximise the TV audience.

They will host Hawthorn or the Western Bulldogs on Saturday week in a preliminary final at Spotless Stadium.

If either Victorian team wins through to the grand final, the start time also means they can fly back that night.

Meanwhile, the MCG is advising fans to arrive as early as possible for the Friday night semi-final between the Hawks and Bulldogs.

A crowd of up to 80,000 is expected for the 7.50pm match.

Wet weather means parking around the ground will be limited and fans are being urged to take public transport.
