GWS coach Leon Cameron says he will be tempted to rush back Toby Greene and Brett Deledio for Saturday night's crunch clash with Richmond, but he could end up erring on the side of caution.
The Giants dropped to 10th spot following Sunday's 11-point loss to West Coast, leaving their finals hopes delicately balanced.
GWS take on defending premiers Richmond at Spotless Stadium this week, before taking on top-four fancies Port Adelaide in Adelaide.
Those two matches are set to shape the Giants' fortunes.
Deledio has battled hamstring and calf issues since last appearing for the Giants in round six.
Greene hasn't been seen at AFL level since injuring his foot in the round five draw with St Kilda.
The pair are back in full training now, but it remains to be seen whether they will be unleashed against the Tigers.
Cameron is well aware of their injury history, and would be reluctant to rush them back before they are ready.
"We've got decision to make, whether or not they need another week of training," Cameron said.
"They had a big hitout (on Saturday).
"It will be tempting to look at them.
"But there's also a number of our players over the past four or five weeks playing some good footy."
Midfielder Harry Perryman will be monitored during the week after failing to finish Sunday's game because of a tight hamstring.
The Giants are lacking significant firepower in attack because of the unavailability of Jeremy Cameron (suspended), Jon Patton (knee), and Greene.
But Cameron was pleased with the way Harry Himmelberg and Rory Lobb filled in the key posts against West Coast.
Himmelberg took seven marks and booted 2.2 from 14 disposals, while Lobb snared six contested marks.
GWS are now three wins adrift of fourth spot, and will need to produce a stunning end to the season if they are to climb back into the premiership picture.
