Gilchrist to sell Aust education to India

The federal government has appointed former cricketer Adam Gilchrist as its inaugural ambassador to India for education.

Australia is looking to hit sixes in international education with the appointment of Adam Gilchrist as the first ambassador to India on education.

The former test cricketer will help ensure Australia is still seen as a high quality education provider among potential Indian students, Education Minister Christopher Pyne said on Thursday.

"The values he espouses both on and off the field - excellence and integrity - are precisely those with which Australia aligns its reputation for high-quality education, training and research," he said.
