The interview to be aired on the Nine Network coincides with the release of Ms Gillard’s much anticipated memoir.

The hour long special is hosted by Ray Martin, who spoke on air about the interview earlier this week.

The veteran journalist told Triple M that Ms Gillard had little regard for former Foreign Minister Bob Carr’s performance after she appointed him to the role in early 2012.

“She says it was a mistake to appoint Bob Carr,” he said.

“That, in fact, when he got there he was lazy.”
The comments follow those made in Mr Carr’s own literary release, Diary of a Foreign Minister, in which he takes aim at Ms Gillard.

The book – which also features quotes describing the “wonderful one-legged Romanian deadlift” – details how he rolled the former prime minister on a UN vote on Palestinian recognition.

He also published text messages between the pair, in an attempt to demonstrate reveal the “extraordinary” level of influence held by the pro-Israel lobby.
Martin also shed light on Ms Gillard’s opinion of both her predecessor and successor, Kevin Rudd.

He said after spending three hours with her, he came to see the former Queensland MP as “treacherous”.

“They covered him up for an awful long time,” he said.

“… Right to the point where she suggests, she says she had no choice. Certainly she thinks he was heading to an emotional breakdown.”

The interview will air on the Nine Network at 6.50pm.
