Four months after being turned down for the England coaching job, former Australia quick Jason Gillespie has enjoyed more success at domestic level by leading Yorkshire to a second straight County Championship title.
Yorkshire sealed a record 33rd English crown after closest challengers Nottingham were dismissed for 204 against Durham at Trent Bridge on Wednesday to deny them enough batting points to stay in the title race.
Former England bowler Ryan Sidebottom earlier produced a devastating spell of bowling as Yorkshire skittled Middlesex for 106 at Lord's in the host's first innings.
Middlesex were 3-0 after Sidebottom bowled the first over of the match and he eventually took 5-18, including his 700th first-class wicket, while Tim Bresnan chipped in with 4-30.
Middlesex's collapse left Notts as the only side capable of taking Yorkshire's crown, but they needed five batting bonus points to maintain a mathematical hope of the title and only managed one.
Despite securing the title, Yorkshire will have to wait for their four-day match to finish before they are presented with the trophy.
Yorkshire's squad this season has boasted England players in Joe Root, Adam Lyth, Gary Balance, Adil Rashid and Jonny Bairstow in addition to Australia's Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch.
But it's 37-year-old Sidebottom who has been the key man taking 39 wickets at 15.71.
Gillespie has lost only three matches since taking over at Yorkshire in 2011 when the team was in the second division.
