Girl charged over bomb hoax

A 15 year old girl has been charged over a bomb hoax that forced the evacuation of Cairns State High School on Monday.

A teenage girl has been charged over a bomb hoax that forced the evacuation of a Cairns high school.

The Cairns Post reports the 15-year-old walked into the Cairns State High School office on Monday and punched two teachers before making the bomb threat and leaving.

The school was forced into lockdown and students were evacuated for more than an hour while police searched the campus.

Police have charged the girl with falsely stating a bomb was present, computer hacking and misuse, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and three counts of common assault.

She will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
