A 15-year-old girl has been charged with malicious wounding following a stabbing in Sydney's south.

The alleged victim, a 17-year-old boy, had left the scene by the time police arrived at a house in Bangor following reports of the incident about 11.30pm on Thursday.

However, they found him in a nearby park where he was treated by paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital in a stable condition.

The girl was arrested at the scene. She has been granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Childrens Court on August 18.
