Girl impaled by fence in Melbourne

A teenage girl has serious injuries after falling from a balcony and onto a wrought-iron fence in Melbourne.

A teenage girl has been impaled by a wrought-iron fence after falling three storeys off a balcony in Melbourne.

An ambulance spokesman said the girl fell off the North Melbourne balcony on Friday morning and hit a wrought-iron fence, which pierced her abdomen and snapped off.

She has been taken to hospital in a serious condition with the piece of fence still inside her and injuries to her pelvis.
