Girls to wear the pants at NSW schools

The uniform policy at NSW state schools has been changed to allow girls the option to wear the same clothing as boys.

Girls will now have the option of wearing shorts and pants at NSW state schools in an overhaul of uniform policy.

NSW Education Minister Rob Stokes has simplified the uniform policy for primary and secondary public schools to a two-page document, down from 24 pages, making it easier to understand.

Mr Stokes will join Premier Gladys Berejiklian at a Sydney school on Tuesday to announce the changes which are aimed making uniforms more affordable, and comfortable. It also stipulates uniforms be made from easy care fabric and "suitable for all body shapes".
