Glenn to run out for Broncos against Dogs

Alex Glenn is set to run out for Brisbane in their NRL clash with Canterbury despite suffering what was at first thought to be a broken wrist.

Days after fearing he had broken his wrist, Brisbane back-rower Alex Glenn says he is confident he will prove his fitness for Thursday's NRL clash with Canterbury.

Glenn looked set to be sidelined for up to two months after Broncos medical staff were convinced he had suffered a fracture in last round's 12-10 win over Cronulla.

However, Glenn was a surprise arrival at Broncos training on Monday after scans cleared the Kiwi international of a broken wrist.

"It went well this morning. I didn't do any contact out there because I don't want to push it too hard too early," Glenn told the Broncos' website.

"But I was able to function well and pass and catch the ball.

"There is some pain there, but if I can get through training on Wednesday I am pretty confident I can play."

Glenn inspired Brisbane by getting back into the defensive line against the Sharks and pulling off a try-saving tackle after suffering what was first thought to be a hand fracture in the first half.

Glenn was in agony after his hand was hit awkwardly by teammate Anthony Milford.

"I was tackling Valentine Holmes and Milf's shoulder came in and hit me right on the joint," Glenn said.

"I lost feeling straight away and couldn't squeeze or anything.

"That is why we thought it was broken."

Brisbane prop Korbin Sims did not seem too surprised Glenn had made himself available.

"He's probably one of the more professional players I know," he said.

"He's obviously doing the right things recovery-wise.

"If he plays this week it will be great for us."

Glenn's inclusion would be a shot in the arm for a Broncos outfit which kept their top-four goal on track with the victory over the Sharks.

Brisbane moved to seventh on the ladder with their seventh win in nine games and they are just two wins from top spot.

"If we win four of our next five we will set ourselves up comfortably to make our goal which is to be in the top four," Broncos forward Joe Ofahengaue said.

"For now it is just about finding some form ahead of the finals."

Boom Brisbane forward Tevita Pangai is also on track to play the 13th-placed Bulldogs despite training in the gym on Monday to manage a groin complaint.
