The construction of the proposed mosque in Currumbin can only go ahead if it's approved at a full Gold Coast Regional Council meeting today.

Some members of the community have protested against the development, which has also led to a Facebook page opposing the build.

A Gold Coast City councillor who claims to have received violent threats on Facebook over the proposed construction says she's disappointed with the social network's response.

Councillor Chris Robbins says, since the application was lodged, she has received threats -- including relating to death and gang rape -- and has been accused of receiving bribes.

Chris Robbins told Brianna Piazza about what she's going through to have the damaging comments removed.
