The full schedule for the 2018 Commonwealth Games will be revealed to the public on Tuesday as organisers celebrate one year to go before they get underway.

The 11-day program will feature 26 events across 18 sports in Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns as well as on the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (GOLDOC) chairman Peter Beattie says achieving the year-to-go milestone is a big moment in planning for the Games.

"This is an opportunity to showcase the Gold Coast to the world and to showcase the Games to the world," Mr Beattie said.

"To actually say to people, 'Think about your tickets because it's only a year to go' ... that's why it is important."

Mr Beattie said the release of the schedule weeks before the start of a ticket request phase on April 24 was vital to ensure people could plan which events they wanted tickets to.

GOLDOC aims to sell 1.2 million tickets for the Games and is focusing on attracting families with 55 per cent of tickets priced $40 or below.

Tuesday's celebrations get under way with a breakfast featuring Games ambassador Sally Pearson before the release of the schedule at 11am.

Other media events will be held across the country while Tuesday wraps up with a community beachfront event at Surfers Paradise from 5.30pm.
