Premier trainer Tony Gollan hopes to end a frustrating run of minor placings in summer feature races with a double-barrelled attack on the Goldmarket Handicap on Saturday.
Gollan's horses have earned more than $100,000 in minor prize money cheques from six stakes races this summer.
"It has been frustrating because we have gone very close in most of them," he said. "Let's hope it ends on Saturday and carries over to the big Magic Millions day on Saturday week."
He will saddle up Someday and Gundy Son in the Goldmarket, the longest-running feature race at the Gold Coast.
Someday is yet to win since being transferred to Gollan but has run second in the George Moore Stakes and had fourths in the Keith Noud Stakes and the Lough Neagh Stakes.
Gollan had debated about sending Someday for another shot at the Bernborough Handicap in Toowoomba on Wednesday but elected to head to the Gold Coast.
Someday will either spell after the Goldmarket or be kept in work for the Sunshine Coast Cup on January 17.
"Either way Someday will then be prepared for the Brisbane winter carnival," Gollan said.
Gundy Son was scratched from the Gold Coast last week because of a wet track.
"He likes the track and he is always an each-way chance there," Gollan said.
Gollan will also have The Storeman in the Bat Out of Hell (900m).
"There wasn't a lot around for him and he has had a week to freshen him up after his recent Doomben win," Gollan said.
"It is no understatement to say there is a stack of pace in the race and he should be suited.
"He is one horse who can take a sit and then sprint. He doesn't have to lead."
