Gonzalez advances in Austria

Argentinian qualifier Maximo Gonzalez has upset eighth seed Pablo Carreno-Busta of Spain in the first round of Austria's Cup Kitzbuhel.

Maximo Gonzalez has provided the biggest shock of the opening day of the Cup Kitzbuhel tennis tournament in Austria by knocking out eighth seed Pablo Carreno-Busta.

It was the first time that Gonzalez, a qualifier for the clay court event in Austria, has dispatched an opponent ranked inside the top 60 for almost a year.

Two match points had to be saved in a dramatic deciding set before the Argentinian was able to complete a 6-3 4-6 7-5 in two hours and 30 minutes.

Ramos-Vinolas overcame fellow qualifier Viktor Galovic 6-7(5) 7-5 6-2 in the same time to progress into the second round.

Pere Riba's reward for dispatching Dustin Brown 7-6(5) 7-5 - leaking 14 aces in the process - is a second-round clash with fourth seed Andreas Seppi.

Andreas Haider-Maurer beat fellow Austrian and wildcard Gerald Melzer 6-2 7-6(1) to set up a meeting against third seed Lukas Rosol.
